The Dems Don't Like Me - and I'm Not Even a Republican

I wrote a post yesterday with some simple comments on the State of Michigan's ill-placed blame on President Bush for high gas prices. Michigan is urging citizens, on the state website, to sign a petition to encourage W. to lower gas prices.

Then some Governor Granholm operative (or worse yet, some "educated" college student) stinks up my comment box with this blatherskite:

Jay,
Consider the fact that Granholm (and other Governors) have asked Bush to cap the profits for oil companies... A simple request that has been ignored.

Another thing to consider is that Granholm actually has a plan to help the state. Her opponent, who is trying to unseat her this year, who you don't even mention here (His name is Dick DeVos FYI) has NO REAL PLAN for the state! DeVos is one of the richest guys in the world - the head of Amway - he of all people should be coming up with solutions to MI's problems. Or maybe he prefers to turn a deaf ear... like Bush?

Ignorant crap, to say the least, from some Democratic operative.

While it is a waste of time, I had to respond to this kind of bunk:
Please.

#1 - please at least address the evidence presented in the post. Of course, as a Democratic operative, I understand you don't want to give evidence.

#2 - what possible Constitutional authority does the President(or any Governor) have for capping profits of any company? None.

#3 - Granholm has a plan to help the state? Like what? Any specifics? Lowering tax burden? She's had four years to help the state.

#4 - Why should I mention Dick DeVos in this post? First, he hasn't won the primary, so he isn't guaranteed to be her challenger (although he certainly is likely to get the nod).

Second, what does he have to do with gas prices on the State of Michigan website?

Third, his plan is of no consequence to this post.

Fourth, if he is one of the richest men in the world, he certainly knows about making plans and following through on them.

Fifth, President Bush, Governor Granholm, Dick DeVos, or any other politician won't come up with any solutions to Michigan's problems. Their business is manipulating our problems to stay (or get) into office. What will solve Michigan's problems is getting the governments un-Constitutional reach out of our lives and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit. The entrepreneurial spirit made Detroit great. By the 1950's, the big government/big business noose destroyed the city. It hasn't recovered. Now the entire state is going down the drain.

It seems like people get so hung up on the success of certain companies or certain individuals that they feel the need to punish success, which I find unbelievable...Un-Constitutional...Un-American. Two days ago, we celebrated Independence Day. Re-reading the Declaration of Independence (something Big Government people don't want us to do), I can't believe the freedom our Founding Fathers' envisioned for us, or their guts in signing such a document. It was certain death if Americans failed in war.

Reading the Constitution and our Bill of Rights, they codified this vision of freedom... yet the Big Government types are out to screw it all up.

Thomas Jefferson would vomit at the thought that a successful company should be punished by a Governor or the President. James Madison must roll over in his grave realizing we don't teach The Federalist Papers anymore - or else how could some people think Big Government is the answer?

The answer is not in Big Government. It is in the raw determination, well-planned work, and resilience in the face of obstacles of each American to make a better future for themselves and for the citizens of this country. When Americans behave this way, something almost metaphysical or spiritual happens, and their success becomes contagious.

Big Government types - please listen to this simple plea: read true American history. Government intervention didn't make this country great. Government's contribution was its reluctance to get involved in economic micromanagement. Once the government entered into this micromanagement, our country stumbled. We will fall completely if people have their way and corporate profits are capped. It is a small step from capping profits to complete communism.

Karl Marx is not dead - he lives on in the thoughts, ideas, and actions of those who hate freedom, hate successful people, and those who wish to bury their head in the sand rather than understand and promote what made America a great nation.
