New Hunting Laws
Governor Granholm deserves credit for signing a couple of key bills on Monday:
SB 1105 allows new hunters to hunt with a licensed adult for up to two years without taking lengthy hunter education courses. As a big proponent of Hunters Ed courses, I am not too crazy about this - but I am all for things that do not make it harder to hunt.
HB 5192 lowers the legal hunting age from 14 to 12 and 12 to 10 for big game and small game, respectively. This is key because we can get people in the hunting mode before high school activities draw them away... and because what 10-year-old son doesn't want to hunt with Dad?
