Michigan State Police said this week that they're still investigating the shooting death of an armed robbery suspect last weekend by Clinton Township police.
Once the investigation is finished, the case will be turned over to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, State Police Detective Sgt. Edward Price said. He declined to discuss details.
Five township officers were placed on administrative leave after they shot (name withheld), 35, of Mt. Clemens in a confrontation that followed a robbery at Passport Pizza, 35510 Groesbeck, and a car chase. Police originally said (the alleged perpetrator) had pointed a gun at them, but it has since been revealed that it was BB gun that resembles a lethal weapon.
He was shot multiple times and died at a nearby hospital.
Now, it is tragic whenever anyone dies. How can anyone have any questions in this case, though? Come on, waving a weapon at police after an armed robbery? Who cares if it was a BB gun. That is just plain suicidal.
